The Oz Report Volume 6, Number 84 Transition
Day Best weather so far of the meets. Very light winds, high cloud base. Plenty of cu’s. Pilots flew from Wallaby to Quest to get ready for tomorrow. The weather for the coming week looks very good with high pressure and warm days – in the nineties. The problems with the scorekeeping at the Wallaby Open haven’t been cleared up yet (and may never be cleared up). GAP 2000 will be used at the Flytec Championship. Everyone’s GPS will be read on the first day both by Tim Cumming’s Mac based GPS verification program and also by Compe-GPS 4.0 just to make the scorekeepers comfortable with their first use of Compe-GPS. It looks like we will emphasize races (one start time) at the Flytec meet to get rid of the early bird bonus issues altogether. The Wallaby Open proved that with sufficient resources everyone could get into the air in very short order and so that no one was hindering from making any start clock that they wanted. The latest version of the Wallaby Open scores may be

Manfred
takes on Brain Porter Just got word from David Glover, Flytec Championship meet director, that Manfred has changed his glider for the Flytec meet and will fly Robin Hamilton’s Swift. Robin was already planning to fly his Laminar. A Brazilian pilot will fly Manfred’s Laminar. Of course Brian wants Manfred on a Swift to up the visibility of Class 2 gliders. This should prove interesting.
