Sonoma Wings Executive Committee Meeting Minutes
The meeting was held at Albert Branson’s home and was attended by Albert Branson, Ernie Camacho, Leo Jones and Greg Sugg. Jon James and Matt Jagelka were unable to attend. There was no official meeting agenda announced in advance of the meeting. Topics discussed were as follows:
1. Dunlap fly-in: The event seems to have been hastily organized. Although there will be fees charged for camping and use of the flight park, no fees are to be required of individual participants for the event itself. Ernie recommends that we not donate any money unless some Sonoma Wings members go to the fly-in. The rest agreed.
2. Bulletin Board: The BB host site is starting a program of more aggressive pop-up ads on the BB. For a fee of $30.00 per year (that’s $2.50 per month) we can be spared the annoyance of the pop-up ads. All present agreed that since the BB has become such an important part of the club web site and club communication, it would be worth while to pay the fee for an uncluttered BB.
3. USHGA Club Information Update: The USHGA does not have a currently updated list of the club officers. USHGA will only conduct official business with club officers who are on their list. We need to review the current club office positions to see how or if they coincide with USHGA requirements, and forward the officer names on to USHGA. Albert will attend to that.
4. Executive Committee Meetings: Leo raised the point that EC meetings should be scheduled in advance and all committee members should attend so that the committee is able to conduct its business. It is a waste of time to discuss various topics when key members are not present. The following was agreed to:
A. Executive committee meetings should be held on an as needed basis.
B. All committee members must attend.
C. There should be an meeting agenda circulated prior to the meeting.
D. The meetings should be open to any interested club members.
5. Sinko de Mayo Fly-in: Leo will contact Mrs. Campbell to ask permission to use her property for landing and the party. This year we need to be very clear in advance that the three vehicle rule will be strictly observed. Ernie will make arrangements for the food but will try to order a little less so as not to have so much food left over.
6. St. John Fly-in T-shirt Design: No date has been set yet for the SJ fly-in. Design submissions for the T-shirts need to be in by June 20th.
7. Sonoma County Air Show: Leo would like to see if SW can participate in the air show, if not actually flying, then at least a static display of some hang gliders (maybe a paraglider and a rigid too). We need to speak with Dan Buchanan for some of his insights.
