Sonoma Wings “BBQ” Meeting Minutes

Friday, April 19, 2003

I arrived a little late and didn’t get a listing of all the people present.  This was a combination BBQ dinner and club meeting.  We met at Justin and Karin’s place near Geyserville.  The club prepared plenty of tri-tip roast which was barbecued to perfection.  We also had other great entrees, salads, breads and desserts.

The Prez, Albert Branson, called the very brief meeting to order at 8:42 p.m.

Cinco de Mayo

The first item of business was the up-coming Cinco de Mayo (actually Tres de Mayo) fly-in at Mt. St. Helena.  The party will be Saturday, May third.  Be sure to sign up on our BB so that we will know how much food and beverages to order.  Jon said that he has recently spoken with Jane Campbell who owns the field where we land.  She is looking forward to loosening up and partying with us.  Be sure to take some time to get to know Jane if you haven’t already.  She strongly supports our continued flying at St. Helena and is a good fun person to talk and  party with.

I am posting the meeting minutes quite late, May fourth.  Due to bad weather forecast for the third, the fly in will now be next Saturday, May tenth, “El diez de Mayo”.

CPR/First Aid Class

Albert is currently organizing and preparing to present four classes which will cover CPR, splinting, bandaging, the Heimlick maneuver, and C-spine.  Along with many other materials he has bought to present this class, are the books, which you keep.  Upon completion of the class you will receive a certificate in CPR, among other things.  The class is five hours long, covering first aid for adults, but the books also cover infants and children.  You owe it to yourself (as well as friends and flying buddies) to take this class.  The classes will cost $35.00, to cover the cost of the books and other materials, and be on a first come first served basis.

Stonyford parade and Rodeo

Linda will be representing the club this year at the annual parade and rodeo in Stonyford.  She will be using an eighteen-foot long trailer as the platform for a float.  This event conflicts with the Cinco de Mayo fly in at Mt. St. Helena, so attendance will likely be low.

Due to my late posting of these meeting minutes, I can report that Linda, Rich, their son Daniel, and Scot represented Sonoma Wings at the parade.

May Sonoma Wings Meeting

The next club meeting will be Saturday, May 17 at Elk Mountain.
