Sonoma Wings Meeting Minutes
Friday, November 21, 2003
The meeting was held a week early to avoid a conflict with Thanksgiving and at Matt's house to help him celebrate his birthday. Matt even provided pizza and beer. Donna handed me a list of everybody present, which I lost.
Donna brought the meeting to order at 8:06 p.m. The first order of business was the election of club officers:
President: Ernie Camacho
The nominations for Prez. were Jon James, Ernie Camacho, Charley Warren, and Donna Matthias. Jon and Donna withdrew their names, so the vote was between Ernie and Charley. Ernie edged Charley out to become the new Prez.
Vice President: Donna Matthias
The nominations for Veep were Gregg Hackett, Donna Matthias, Brian Padget, Anthony Abate, and Greg Sugg. Donna prevailed to become the new Veep.
Secretary: Charley Warren
The nominations for Secretary were Charley Warren and Scot Huber. Charley out campaigned Scot who wasn't there to become the new Secretary.
Site Director: Greg Sugg
The nominations for Site Director were Brian Padget and Greg Sugg. Greg got the nod.
Treasurer: Matt Jagelka
Matt was the only one in the running. He managed to get 100% of the votes! (who said that that only happens in Iraq?)
Safety Officer: Fred Clement
The nominations for Safety Officer were Gregg Hackett and Fred Clement. Fred got the most votes to become the new Safety Officer.
Christmas Party:
The next club meeting will be the Christmas party at Kurt Bainum's house in Petaluma on December 12th. The party will be a potluck feast as last year. Lisa Tate will be flying out from Idaho to attend! There was some discussion about asking Vince to fly his Cardinal to Reno or where ever she flies into to bring her the rest of the way. Leo and Ernie will look into that. Check out the Bulletin Board for directions and other party info.
East Park Reservoir:
Jon said that we can get a permit to land at East Park Reservoir if we can ever work out a suitable compromise with the Bureau of Reclamation on insurance. They currently want a five million dollar policy, which is cost prohibitive. Hopefully we can convince them to accept one million, which is what the USHGA can provide for a reasonable price. The permit fee would be about two hundred dollars and would last for about three years. A committee will be established early in the New Year to work on the issue.
Trophies:
All club trophies need to be returned so that they can be engraved with the new winners' names in time for the Christmas party.
Wheels:
Fred began his duties as safety officer immediately by showing everyone some excellent, lightweight, pneumatic safety wheels which he purchased for his glider. He had information on where to buy them at a very good price. He also showed how he modified them to allow his VG cord to pass through the hub. Anyone interested in fitting a pair to their glider (cheaper than a down tube!) should call Fred.
And then the meeting gradually descended into chaos.
