Sonoma Wings meeting notes from 8-26-2004
Attending the meeting were Andy Miller, Donna Matthias, Charley Warren, Bill Wood, Matt Jagelka, Ernie Camacho, Gregg Hackett, Fitz Gary, Kerri Lemos and Aaron, and Jon James. 11 people.
Ernie called the meeting to order at 7:46. He urged us to buy raffle tickets, first thing.
Next Ernie recapped the St John fly-in. We lost a couple hundred bucks on it but gained some items the club will use including a BIG-ASS cooler and a couple of large cooking vessels. We especially thank the locals who attended the BBQ including Leroy and Dorothy Walkup, Christy Rudolf, Mary Quiberg and Pete and Maureen. Sorry I didn't get Pete and Maureen's last name. Mary had a good time.
President Ernie proposed having a club trailer for club stuff that could be used to haul around everything necessary to do a BBQ like this. We agreed to table the proposal to give people time to think about it. Gregg Hackett offered storage space for a trailer or other type of repository for club stuff.
Some folks expressed a desire to have the next BBQ / Awards at the lake again. Their feelings are that it's cooler and offers swimming. To be decided next year. There was discussion about having the pilots meeting on launch next year. We could co-ordinate with Potato Hill via radio.
Overall the fly-in was a good success! Ernie declared us all Sky Gods!
Based on the response on the website there is not enough support to change the club name so Charley withdrew the motion.
We will be doing a work party at St John very soon. The Snow Mountain Academy folks are anxious to help again. We will do it the weekend of 9-25 & 26. Greg Sugg volunteered to help with the presentation to the cadets. We will get someone to help him out. Jon James will call the Forrest Service. We also talked about working with the Forrest Service on improvements to the Potato Hill launch.
Pilots are encouraged to attend the Silent Airshow 9-17, 18 &19. The main show is Sunday. There are comp rounds the first two days.
Gregg Hackett is updating the weather links and the site guides on the website. He says to email him any input. At 8:29 Ernie sat down during the website discussion.
We talked about going to the Owens over Labor Day weekend. Several are going.
Bill Wood has found a training site, practice site, in Potter Valley. He will approach the land owner.
Raffle winners were; 3G-PG T-shirt, Kerri - Nalgen water bottle, 3G - Cinco shirt, Fitz - headband, Charley - USHGA shirt and Andy Miller - Cinco shirt. I forgot to ask how much we made on the raffle.
The next meeting will be at the Occidental Rd Round Table Pizza 9-23-2004.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:58 and all beer drinking and merriment broke out.
