Better late than never. Here are the meeting notes from the
Sonoma Wings meeting held on 7-22-2004.
As usual this time of year the meeting was lightly attended. Present were; Kerri Lemos, Donna Matthias, Ernie Camacho, Charley Warren, Gregg, 3G, Hackett, Kurt Bainum, Larry Roberts, Ian Ridel, Greg Sugg, Jon James, Justin Miller and Karin and Fred Clement.
While waiting for the meeting to start we ate pizza and listened to poison oak horror stories from Ernie. We also heard how Lisa Tate got to take a hot-air balloon ride and a sailplane flight in the same day when she was here recently. She hadn't done either before. Kurt took photos of everyone at the meeting with his new SLR digital camera. We look forward to some nice HG photos from the camera.
Ernie brought the meeting to order at 7:45pm.
First Ernie updated members on the recent exec committee meeting. Mostly it was planning for the St John Fly-in. Fly-in will be on 8-21 & 8-22. Ian and Donna are getting prizes. Second day will be defined task to end at Mary's. BBQ and awards will be there. Pilots meeting will be at 09:00 at the Fouts LZ. We need volunteers to be meet officials and BBQ help. Donna and Kerri will help cook.
Ernie reports he is beginning to get a little help with the website. And says to keep the pics coming.
A motion was made to change the name of the club to include paragliders. The motion was discussed and tabled. We agreed to take a web poll to see if it is worth the effort. It would take a 75%yes vote to pass the required change to the By-Laws.
Ian reported on the Neal Cruz incident since he was there at the time. He got a thorough site intro. He noted that one cannot see the ridgeline, that one is instructed to follow, from launch. It was noted that one can see the ridgeline on our website and we would hope people new to our sites take the time and initiative to study the pics and suggestions for our sites. Bottom line is that we did everything we could for Neal before he flew. We agreed to provide even more web info. There was a lot of discussion on this topic.
Greg will come up with new pilot recommendations and post them on the web. Jon will talk with the Forrest Service.
The next meeting will be at the Occidental Rd. Round Table on 8-26-2004 at 7:00pm.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:49.
