Sonoma Wings meeting notes from 10-28-2004

Attending the meeting were Gregg Hackett, Ernie Camacho, Donna Matthias, Larry Roberts, Charley Warren, Jon James, Bernard Passemar, Steve Brosseau, Matt and Lori Jagelka, Greg Sugg, Andy Miller and Fred Clement. There was the usual swapping stories and chowin' down while people gathered. We also bought raffle tickets before the meeting.

Then, at 19:35 President Ernie brought the meeting to order. First he urges us to buy more raffle tickets.

Since there are new folks attending, we go around the room and tell who we are and a little about ourselves. Steve Brosseau is from Sonoma. He has been flying sailplanes since he was 14 years old, has flown a hang glider twice and also flies helicopters. Welcome Steve! Bernard is a PG novice taking lessons from Wally. He lives in Santa Rosa and has a P1 rating.

Andy Miller who has been hangin with the club most of the year has started flying PGs. He is now rated P1 and is almost ready to get his P2. Congratulations Andy!

The date of the next meeting will be moved up a week due to Thanksgiving. It will be 11-19-2004 at the usual Round Table Pizza. This will be the election of officers meeting. Please make plans to attend.

Matt and Lori offered up their house for the Christmas party. It was noted that some people thought Kurt also offered his place. We agreed to vote on the web. The party will be December 10th.

Next we got to the main event, the nominations of officer candidates.

Nominated for President were; Ernie Camacho and Jon James. There were no stump speeches but they both said they would serve if elected.

For Vice President were; Donna Matthias, Gregg Hackett and Andy Miller.

For Site Director were; Greg Sugg and Leo Jones.

For Secretary were; Charley Warren and Gregg Hackett.

Nominated for Treasurer was Matt Jagelka. Matt has two kids in college and will need to be Treasurer for at least three more years. hhmm

Nominations are open until the voting begins at this months meeting on the 19th.

On to other things. Donna handed out some stickers from Bob Ortiz's daughter. They are 2.5 inch diameter and have a photo of a smiling Bob. They say Fly with Bob. I'm putting mine on my helmet.

Fred Clement says he's doing holistic cancer healing. See Fred for details he says it's in lieu of chemo or radiation.

Gregg wants to do a work party on Potato Hill with the Snow Mountain Academy crew. Jon agreed to work with Gregg to get something going. We will need permission from the Forrest Service first. Gregg says there will be lots of PG volunteers to help work.

Gregg also reported that he videoed the recent helicopter evac from Elk Mountain. He said it went very smoothly. The chopper landed on the west knob, on top. He said too that the CDF had a 2 meter FM radio but wouldn't trade freq.'s. We felt it would have been safer if we could cross-communicate.

Jon James reported that he sent photos of the St John work party to the Snow Mountain Academy.

Jon also informed us that there has been some sort of re-alignment in the State Parks. Ranger Districts have changed and we will have to interface with different personnel. Stay tuned.

We are reminded that landowner visits are coming up. And there is a Turkey Shoot in Stonyford 11-6 & 7. There is interest in going among club members.

Larry reminded us of the upcoming PASCO seminar / dinner the same weekend. Larry is going to that, as are others.

Ernie sat down at 20:45.

The meeting was adjourned at 20:50.

After the meeting was over we held a raffle and raised $75 for the club.

3G, as always won 2 shirts and a poncho. Larry won a Sonoma Wings shirt and Andy Miller a cap. Jon won a bottle of Justin's wine and I won a poncho. Bernard won 2 shirts and Matt won a shirt.

Yee Ha!! Some Fun!

The next meeting will be 11-19-2004, 7:00pm at the Occidental Rd Round Table Pizza. This will be the election of officers meeting. Please make plans to attend
