Sonoma Wings meeting notes from 2-24-2005
Attending the meeting were Charley Warren, Donna Matthias, Andy Miller, John DeAguiar, Gerry Mugele, Keri Lemos, Scot Huber, Eddy Dadzis and Leslie Williamson, Jon James, Jim Newman and Bernard Passamer.
Some key members who almost always come to the meetings were not there, including President Ernie. This left running the meeting to the VP, next ranking officer. The fact that these people were missing was more than made up by the number of new faces at the meeting.
At 19:35 Donna stood up and started the meeting.
First we did introductions for the new folks. Gerry Mugele lives in Glen Ellen, is recently retired and wants to learn to paraglide.
Eddie Dadzis is a new P2 recently relocated from the east coast with his girlfriend (potential driver?) Leslie Williamson. They are living in Tomales and have been kiting at the coast.
Jim Newman is a new Hang 2. He has been taking lessons from Pat Denevan and is ready to start flying our entry level sites. Jim lives in Santa Rosa and is a geologist.
The Potato Hill work party is getting set up. Tentative dates are April 16 & 17 but may change once details are worked out with the Forest Service and Snow Mountain Academy.
Next Donna called for volunteers for the St John Fly-in. The Fly-in dates will be 7-23&24. Charley volunteered to be prize beggar. Jon James will be safety coordinator. Donna and Keri will help with the food. We still need a "Meet Head" and a task committee.
We got a short report on the recent pitch and pack `chute day. Participation was good about 18 `chutes got repacked. We learned that the "snake" method is more reliable than the "brick" method when it comes to deploying the reserve in a staged manner.
The Stonyford parade is 4-30. We have a float in the works. Linda is heading up the effort and Andy Miller, Donna and Scot are helping out. They still need more volunteers. Call Linda. The parade theme is "The Cowboy Way".
We picked a new date for the Spring Fly-in so we don't conflict with the parade. It will be 5-14 & 5-15.
Jon James proposed a "Training day" at the Foote Ranch. It would be on a NW day with approximately 10 newer pilots.
The next meeting will be 3-24-2005 at the Occidental Rd Round Table Pizza at 7:00pm. Come and meet some of the new members.
